The Qalandars were flying towards a huge total of above 200 runs in their first game but were faced by a typical Pakistani batting collapse after the first three batsman returned to the pavilion.
Despite having big names like Braithwaite and Devcich, they just couldn’t hold on to the brilliant start and only 41 runs came in the last five overs. They would not want to repeat that collapse once again. The Lahori batsman will be looking to capitalize on the starts they get.
A total of 170 is quite chase able on these pitches and we sighted that. In the lights of Ab De Villiers and M.Hafeez, Qalandars must achieve high totals. Mr. 360 looked charming for is cameo of 24 runs and will be a crucial player once again in this game.
The only thing that Lahoris should do is to not lose regular wickets and runs would come, no matter which opposition is bowling them, such is the skills of their hitters.
Young Shaheen and Braithwaite went for plenty in the first game. Especially Afridi needs to strike early as he did throughout the South African tour and surely, he would have learned from his previous mistakes and look to bowl different channels today.
He went down leg several times in the first game and that caused him leak runs. As for Braithwaite, he does not have pace to play with; what he needs is to bring about as many variations he can to confuse the batsman. Yasir Shah bowled too flat too.
It seemed he was more concerned about the economy rate which does not suit to a talent like him. He should flight the ball to befuddle the batsman and Hafeez wouldn’t mind an economy of 8-9 if he can get 2-3 wickets for his team.
They would also want to avoid the collapse in the later part of the innings. They were even worse than the Qalandars and could only manage 35 runs in the last 5 overs. Colin Ingram wasn’t able to flare up neither Imad Wasim dazzled with the bat.
Both of them need to strike if they want to post or chase comprehensive totals. Babar Azam will be the trump card for the Kings once again who needs to bat exactly the same way he did in the first game.
Both these teams batted first in their respective introductory games so it would be interesting to see how one of them is, during chasing. Their bowling was outstanding. Only Sohail Khan was battered by the batsman, otherwise, the lengths they bowled and the channels they targeted were brilliant.
Skipper gave away only 22 runs in his spell and Amir gave a glimpse of his old self: taking wickets and firing Yorkers at the death. Their bowling is quite settled and it is unlikely that they make any changes to the squad. Munro will join the side soon but may have to sit on the bench if Livingstone continued his PSL form.
Don’t miss the fun………….
